Off The Grid

Need to disconnect? Go Off the Grid. This hazy pale ale uses Sabro hops to bring out a distinct tropical aroma of tangerine and a complex blend of mango and peach flavours. Off the Grid is an unfiltered brew with a bold, fruity taste that accompanies any new adventure. No signal…no problem.

Full and unfiltered, this easy drinker has plenty of fruity goodness all coming from the hops. Aromas of bright citrus complement a body of fresh Ontario peaches and mango. Finishes with an earthy taste, accompanied by a lasting drying effect.
Malts: 2-Row Pale, Pilsen, Oats, Flaked Wheat
Hops: Mosaic, Azacca
Dry Hop: Sabro, Azacca

Left Field Brewery

There are two new arrivals at Mitchell’s Independent from a brewery in Toronto that is absolutely fantastic. Their selections are delicious  and come in 355ml stubby cans. Left Field have a unique connection to baseball ⚾️ and on the back of each can are the ballpark pairings. The new ones at Mitchell’s are Squeeze Play

Small ball at its finest, a squeeze play is a sacrifice bunt that gives the runner on third a scoring opportunity. Our Squeeze Play kettle sour is packed with pomegranate and blackcurrant and dry hopped with Citra and Centennial. Deep red in colour, juicy and quenching, this sour ale is the perfect pre-season refresher.

And this is Rally Cap 🧒 Brewed with oats and lactose sugar for a full bodied, rounded smoothness and a subtle sweetness, Rally Cap is a hazy pale ale turned inside out and backwards. This beer showcases Azacca and Citra hops with ripe mango, juicy clementine, crisp honeydew melon and delicate spruce tips.

Left Field Brewery was established in Toronto in April of 2013 and brews a series of baseball-inspired, distinct and full-flavoured beers. Born from a passion for both craft beer and baseball, Left Field Brewery was founded by husband and wife team Mark and Mandie Murphy.
There are a few more selections at Mitchell’s and I can vouch for all of them - they are just that good πŸ‘πŸ˜‹πŸ»

Country Vibes

Country Vibes is our newest offering from Beau’s Brewing here at Mitchell’s Independent in Carleton Place.  It is an 4.7% Amber. πŸ˜‹
In my 1st year of πŸ“Ί TV Broadcasting at Algonquin college I had a pretty eclectic class with quite a few interesting characters. I was the director for our 1st semester production which involved a couple of sets in a would be soap opera. Anyhow long story short a couple of classmates had gained notoriety with a recent claim to fame at the time on Much Music...https://youtu.be/sc-INN_BC74
Yes Tom Green was my classmate and in that 1st ever TV πŸ“Ί Production I remember the work we did on the mixing board splicing Pearl Jam into the opening set of this soap. Regardless the production was terrible but really really good, we got an A and were on our way as 1st timers, all to say that Tom from Vankleek Hill had much more design on his horizons than just the love ❤️ for drinking beer. https://youtu.be/YoR5q527DiY

Yes the man from Vankleek Hill home of Beau’s Brewery launched on July 1, 2006, and is known for its "regionally famous" Lug Tread lagered ale

Beau's flagship beer is Lug Tread, a Kolsch as well as a number of seasonal beers. Beau's beers are available throughout Ontario and definitely have been a staple in the lineup here at Mitchell’s since we started selling beer 🍺.

Beau's was started by father and son Tim and Steve Beauchesne. After having informally discussed the idea, they left their previous employment (Tim having run a textile company for 17 years, and Steve having worked for the Ontario government and running Go! Go! Go! Records) and opened Beau's on Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Day 2006. -style lagered-ale that is produced alongside a year-long line up which includes Good Time Session I.P.A., Full Time I.P.A., Wag the Wolf (a White I.P.A.), the Beau's Grapefruit Radler, and Countdown Pale Ale all available here at Mitchell’s.

On November 1, 2013, Beau's released The Tom Green Beer, a milkπŸ₯›stout made in collaboration with actor and comedian Tom Green. When Green was a guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, he brought the beer on-air and drank it with the host.  Beau's has since expanded the Tom Green Series, which now includes the Tom Green Cherry Milk Stout, and Tom Green Summer Stout.

Bob Loblaw's Beer Blog

I have created an alias Bob Loblaw.

Typically I put out posts whenever there is a new beer to merchandise and have been doing it for quite some time now, I will move those posts to this page and in time create an archive of sorts. At the same time this presents the opportunity to expand what can be done on the information highway for beer enthusiasts sharing information, stories, and anecdotes.

There is such a great group of brewers in the vicinity that it is an amazing time to be doing what we are doing. I love the work and branding of the Local Breweries and think that locally we have some of the finest if not the best selections of anywhere in the world...

I think it will open up a new avenue to expand on the many brewers and offerings available to us in Ontario rather than a short note on the latest beer hitting the shelf this week, I can expand on some of the history of these great breweries and their offerings adding the inspiration for everyone to get out and support many of the local establishments around the valley to be visited when we finally get out of isolation in these unprecedented times. Cheers friends!
